Stop Wasting Your Time With The Wrong Person

By Mark Webb At times, we may find ourselves getting caught up in situations that are beyond our control. This is particularly true for relationships. Are you presently caught in a relationship that is only bringing you pain and heartache? Maybe it is only a struggle from time to time. Despite the frequency, what is the negative impact this is having on you? Are you giving away your self respect to have a relationship? If so, this is a high price indeed. Im bringing up this point because dysfunctional relationships is a common topic of conversation that just about every couple has experienced at one time or another. When relating the details of the relationship, they may say things like Deep down, hes a really sweet man or If you only knew the real him or She just needs someone who cares and finally You just dont understand. This may be true. Other people may not understand your perspective of the situation. They may only have the advice for you to simply Get Out! This advice usually falls on deaf ears because on some level, the people defending the dysfunctional relationship care for the other person. Are you spending hours reading books and talking to friends in an effort to understand why your partner does the things they do? What conclusions have you reached? Do you still find yourself getting stuck? Let me ask you another question, what are your instincts telling you to do? A lot of times we know what we should do but we are afraid of or dont like the answers. In the heat of an argument and in the initial cooling down phase, your instincts may not be at its best. Once past these emotionally charged times, your instincts will be much clearer. What are they repeatedly telling you? As a Christian, I believe this instinct is more of an inner voice of God within us. I find a great deal of comfort in this because I know I can trust in my spirituality. No matter how you look at your decision-making abilities, you need to learn how to trust and believe in yourself. Understanding is helpful and can be useful in initiating change. However, understanding does not ensure that change will occur. Because you cannot change other people, I encourage you to focus on changing yourself. Try to get your own life in order. Strive to understand your own needs and feelings. This will be a lot easier to understand than the approach of trying to figure out someone else. Don’t Pollute Those Around You

By Larry Arrance There is a great deal of wisdom in what my mother told me, “If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.” Recently I was in the front row (which by the way is known as the millionaire’s row because winners don’t hide at the back) of a company training event. A colleague of mine was not impressed with one of the trainers. She could not or would not contain her disdain and proceeded to make a series of noises to express her lack of approval for the presenter’s style and delivery. The noises ranged from; exaggerated sighs, low groans and mumbled words. Normally I would have ignored the rudeness and written the person off as being discourteous and immature but my concern was for the young woman who sat between us. It was her first time at this kind of event and I didn’t want it tainted by the rude person’s antics. When there was a break in the day’s training I asked the demonstrative woman to step outside with me. I told her I could appreciate her negative opinion of the presenter’s style and admitted that there were others who might have delivered the material in a more appealing fashion. When I told her my concern was that the new girl might end up adopting her negative opinion of the presenter and miss out on the important content of the presentation. She looked very sheepish as she admitted that wasn’t being fair to young woman. I’m reminded of something I have to caution my wife with in certain situations, “Inside voice, outside voice.” Even the most positive of us entertains a negative thought from time to time. It is your responsibility to determine which thoughts get shared out loud and which remain silent. When you put down others or express your negative judgments to those around you, you are polluting the room. At best you will contaminate the others and eliminate any value they may have gotten from the presenter. At worst you will have portrayed yourself as someone who is negative, judgmental and inconsiderate, not the traits of a winner. If you ever find yourself in a training or educational event and start to think the presenter or instructor is inept, catch yourself. Instead of looking for where he or she is not reaching your expectations start imaging yourself up on stage. Ask yourself, “How would I present this information? How would I do a better job?” If you don’t like the way trainings are done then become a trainer and do a better job. It is your responsibility to get as much out of a training as possible. It is also your job to make every event as positive as possible. It will be good for you and your organization. Larry Arrance is an entrepreneur, author and workshop facilitator. When to Apply Lime to Your Lawn

By Jack Greenwood Before you know if you need to apply lime to your lawn, you need to know the pH level of your soil. The pH level will indicate whether your lawn soil is too acidic or alkaline. The pH level range from 1.0 to 14.0. A value of 1.0 indicate extreme acidity and a value of 14.0 indicates extreme alkaline. A desirable or balanced pH level is between 6.5 and 7.0. If your lawn soil has a pH level in this range, your grasses will grow healthily and there is less chance of weeds growing. If the pH level of your lawn soil is less than 6.5, it is acidic and you have to add lime to bring it back to balance. In general, when there is an increase in rainfall, the acidity of your soil will also increase. Other factors that can cause acidity include irrigating with water that has a high acid content and decomposition of organic matter. You can purchase a soil test kit from your nearest nursery or garden center to test your lawn soil pH. However, the test result will only tell you if your soil is acidic or alkaline. You will not know how much lime is required to bring the soil back to balance. A better alternative is to send a soil sample to a soil test lab for testing. You can look up the yellow pages to find one that is located in your vicinity. Once the soil test is completed by the lab, you will receive a report with an accurate analysis of your soil chemistry and composition. There should be a section in the report indicating the amount of lime you need to apply to your lawn. There are a few type of lime available in the market. The most common type being pulverized limestone, which is relatively inexpensive. Another type is dolomitic limestone, which contain magnesium. This is used when the soil test indicates that your soil is low in magnesium. The more expensive type of lime is pelletized limestone, which is cleaner and easier to apply. When applying time, you should use a rototiller to work the lime into the soil for best result. You can apply lime any time during the growing season but not when the grasses are wilted or frost covered. Do not apply fertilizer immediately after a lime application. Give the lime about two weeks to improve the soil before applying fertilizer. If you have a new lawn, you should apply the lime before planting any seed. A soil test should be done every three to four years. Apply lime to your soil only when the test result indicates such necessity. Too much lime will cause your soil pH to go off balance, which will lead to other lawn problems. As long as you are able to maintain a balanced pH level for your soil, your lawn will have a easier time to grow healthily. Customers Are Like Vampires

By Cathy Stucker No, customers aren’t bloodsuckers (well, maybe a few are!) and they don’t come out only at night. According to legend, vampires don’t come in until they are invited. And that’s true of customers, too. You may think you’ve invited your customers. After all, you put up signs identifying your store, got a web site, placed ads, sent press releases, networked, put out fliers, etc. Those things can let your customers know you exist, but to be effective they should include invitations to customers. That doesn’t mean sending actual invitations, it means creating a reason for them to come, and communicating that reason to them. We’re talking about giving customers a ‘call to action’. First, make sure you know what you want them to do. Do you want them to contact you for more information, pay a visit, make a first purchase, make larger or more frequent purchases? Once you know what results you want, you can tailor a call to action which inspires that reaction. Are you trying to build traffic at your physical or online location? Your communication might focus more on reasons for people to visit, and less on buying. Have traffic that you’re trying to convert to sales? Encourage them to make a purchase by offering a limited-time discount, or something free with a purchase. Offer a guarantee. Want business from customers you haven’t seen in a while? Entice them. Let them know what’s new. A hair salon changed ownership, and there were problems. Most of the stylists left, service was spotty, and lots of customers quit using them, including me. I got a postcard inviting me to come back and see the changes they made. While not saying, ‘Yeah, we stunk, but now we’re better,’ they told about their new amenities and offered me a special price on my next visit. I went, and was impressed. I’ll go back. They recovered a lost customer by inviting me to come back. Here are a few more examples of calls to action: Hold an event, such as an open house, seminar or product demonstration, to encourage people to come at a specific time. Send out coupons with an expiration date to create a sense of urgency. Give something away to people who visit or contact you. Institute a frequent buyer club. For example, after I get my dog groomed six times, the seventh groom is free. It keeps me coming back to the same place. Encourage customers to invite their friends to do business with you. After all, an invitation from a trusted friend is great incentive. Reward both the customer and the friend–give them each a small gift, or have special ‘two-fer’ pricing giving a discount. Don’t leave your customers wandering around aimlessly–invite them in! Copyright Cathy Stucker. Choosing the Right House: Make Sure It Works for You

By Aldene Fredenburg Looking for a new home? It’s a complex process, but the reward is great - a refuge from the world, a place for entertaining, a comfortable and safe nest for a growing family - a place where you can create the surroundings and decide how to live in them. Before you start looking for your new home, it’s best to do some careful thinking. How do you want to use your home? Do you want to entertain a lot? Do you prefer small gatherings or lavish parties? Are you a barbecue nut? Do you want to be able to host family and friends for overnight or week-long stays? Maybe you don’t want all those relatives piling in on you, and want a cozy little retreat and an excuse to put the relatives up at the closest motel. All these questions suggest very different needs in terms of space. If you like to host frequent small dinners, for instance, a big eat-in kitchen or separate dining room might be a priority. If you want to throw a huge bash periodically, a big living room and, during warmer seasons, a landscaped garden or deck with plenty of room for seating would be an asset, as would a highly functional, professional style kitchen. A barbecue nut absolutely needs a big backyard; and hosting relatives requires extra bedrooms (or rooms which could be quickly converted into guest rooms) and definitely more than one bath. Make a “must have” list for your new home: eat-in kitchen, finished basement, big backyard, gardening space, in-ground pool - whatever you most desire. Then go through your list and prioritize, based on how you really plan to live. Assuming you know the general area where you want to live, it’s also important to have a list of towns where you would like to live. Depending on your family status - kids in school or not, married, single, young, middle-aged, nearing or past retirement age - you might want to factor in the quality - and cost - of the schools, the tax base, the presence or absence of cultural events, and so forth. Once you’ve really defined your ideal home and possible locations, you’re ready to contact a Realtor. Let your agent know what you’re looking for in a new home, and he or she will be able to search a Multiple Listings Service (MLS) database and generate a list of possible homes. You’ve done your dreaming in terms of an ideal home; now it’s time to get practical. Unless you have unlimited funds to build your own perfect house in the perfect location, chances are you’re going to have to compromise. Here’s where the priorities come in. If you want lots of room for get-togethers but can’t find a house big enough with the kitchen you want, you may want to choose a large home and remodel and expand the kitchen yourself. The barbecue nut may be able to live with a small kitchen as long as he has a big backyard. Thin out possible homes to perhaps half a dozen options, and make appointments to see those properties. If more than one person is going to be involved in the purchasing decision, make sure all parties involved are present for the showing. Get all the information you can from the Realtor about each property before you visit it - property descriptions, disclosure statements, deed information if available - and read it all. Bring along a list of possible questions to ask regarding each property, as well as a checklist of your wants and needs. As you view the property, take notes, and discuss each property after viewing it with your Realtor. Try to winnow out properties as you go; once you’ve seen two properties, compare and contrast them, and try to eliminate one if you can; then go on to the third property, and again try to eliminate one. You may not be able to accomplish this completely, but even if you cut the possibilities in half using a systematic approach, you’ll be closer to your goal. Remember, some things you can fix and some you can’t; so make sure this new home will function for you the way you want it to. The prettiest house in the world isn’t going to be a happy place if it cramps your lifestyle. So go for practicality and function, and if necessary add the finishing touches yourself. Heaven and Who Enters

By Anthony Smith Heaven and Who Enters. For me to try to describe Heaven would be pointless, man has not the capacity of mind or thought to realize the beauty nor expanse of Gods Kingdom. There is a great misconception on what Heaven is and those that will be allowed to enter. Is there a Heaven? Yes. Is it a place or just a concept? Its a place. Deu 10:14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is. Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs ( United; combined; acting in concert; as a joint force; joint efforts; One who is entitled to possess. In Scripture, saints are called heirs of the promise, heirs of righteousness, heirs of salvation, &c., by virtue of the death of Christ, or of God’s gracious promises.)with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Good intentions are not a key to enter into the rest of God nor His Kingdom. I was watching a program the other night and found again that most programs on Scripture are lacking in truth and information relevant to the needs of the populace. Entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven is allocated to those that follow the Commandments of God. Rules that must be applied in our every day walk upon this earth. These Commandments are not grevious nor burdensome. Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Many say that there is no Heaven nor Hell, that there is always other ways to attain entrance into Heaven, that there will be people that never hear of Jesus that will be allowed into the Kingdom and others say that heaven is a matter of obtaining total consciousness. The first requirement for entrance is believing in the word of God. Rules that supersede all other beliefs, Believe in Jesus, Repent, Learn and Live. First I want to look at the meaning of the word Heaven; Raki’a, Firmament, Shamayim, Marom, Shechakim, “third heaven,” 2Co_12:2. The air or atmosphere, where clouds gather; The firmament, in which the sun, moon and stars are fixed; The upper heaven, the abode of God and his angels, the invisible realm of holiness and happiness; the home of the children of God. Psa 33:13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. The Hebrews acknowledged three heavens; the air or aerial heavens; the firmament in which the stars are supposed to be placed; and the heaven of heavens, or third heaven, the residence of Jehovah. Among Christians, the part of space in which the omnipresent Jehovah is supposed to afford more sensible manifestations of his glory. Hence this is called the habitation of God, and is represented as the residence of angels and blessed spirits. Deu 26. Here are a few rules and situations that we must follow; Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Each and every religion on this earth give different ways of entering into Heaven, except the only way. That way is threw Jesus. Gods word is for the believers life, but to those that will perish it is foolishness. This Gospel that we preach and testify to, is truth and life to all that will believe. We cannot force anyone to believe in Jesus and no religion will pass away from man until the time of the end, then all will perish. God gives all mankind a chance to be saved from their sin, but not all will accept it. Those that say they are Christians and preach other ways to enter into Heaven are deceivers and are being deceived by their own lack of understanding of Scripture, those that say that multitudes will never hear of Jesus are also being deceived. The Bible gives answers to all these statements. We must remember these Scriptures are for those that believe that Jesus is the Son of God, Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. There is no reward in Heaven for murder, theft, deception nor unrighteousness. Lets look at John 10:1; Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. This statement of Christ, negates any statement made by man, that there are others ways to enter. In John 10:9 Jesus shows us the only door; I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. For these verses to apply, they must be believed, many believe that Jesus was a man of God and a Prophet, if they do, then why do they not believe Him? The world is a mixture of different races, nationality’s, and beliefs, but the Apostle Paul tells us how many will also be Judged under Christ. 1Co 9:21 - them: Act_15:28, Act_16:4, Act_21:25; Rom_2:12, Rom_2:14; Gal_2:3, Gal_2:4, Gal_2:12-14, Gal_3:2 1Co 9:20-23; And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. The entrance into Heaven is all inclusive unto all men. There will be no excuse, all will enter into Heaven by Christ or not at all, there is no exception. 1. Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God. 2. Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; What is this law? The law of Righteousness, which is God and Christ. Weather under no human law or under the Law of Moses. 3. Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For those that refuse to accomplish the Law in their lives, will be left outside the gate. 4. Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: a law unto themselves. Not to say that they are not subject to the law of God but that they are a race within themselves to be justified or condemned by their righteousness. Again this Righteousness only comes from God and only threw Jesus. This is proven by the statements in Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. IMPU’TED, Charged to the account of; attributed; ascribed. Rom 4:21-24 ; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 5.Rom 2:15-16; Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. For me to try to describe Heaven would be pointless, man has not the capacity of mind or thought to realize the beauty nor expanse of Gods Kingdom. The Kingdom of Heaven has no limits, no boundaries and no measurement, for how can anything or anyone contain that which is the Spirit of God. By Kevin Donlin Looking for a job on the Internet can be daunting. Where do you start? What Web sites are best for your industry? If you’re suffering from “job search overwhelm,” take heart. Remember the adage about how to eat an elephant one bite at a time. Your quest for employment is the same. It’s less overwhelming if you slice the online job market into bite-sized pieces instead of trying to visit 1,000 Web sites in a single day. Here are 4 ways to divide the online employment market into smaller niches — and get hired faster. 1) Search For Local Job Sites Like politics, most job searches are local. You’ll likely get hired by an employer within 20-30 miles of where you are now. So it pays to find Web sites that list local job openings. Tip: look for job listings at the Web site of your local newspaper or TV station. You’ll almost always find something. Examples: startribune.com, kstp.com, detnews.com, nytimes.com. You’ll often find links to other regional job sites this way, too. A second tactic is to type your state or city name and the word “jobs.com” into your Web browser and see what turns up. Examples: Minnesotajobs.com, Chicagojobs.com, Phillyjobs.com. 2) Search For Jobs By Industry No matter what line of work you’re in, there’s probably a Web site with employment postings for that industry. So doing a Google search for “job title + jobs” should produce leads. Another good Web resource is SearchSimpleton.com. It has links to more than 1,000 industry-specific Web directories, from Accounting and Finance to Travel, Hospitality and Restaurant job sites. It’s a good place to narrow your search to a specific industry or job function. 3) Search For Unadvertised Openings Here’s a neat trick. You can get hired by companies before they even know they need you, according to Rich Milgram, founder and CEO of the 4Jobs.com Career Network. All you have to do is think beyond your title. “Most people take their job searches too literally. If they don’t find an exact match for the position Software Development Manager, for example, they give up. This is a mistake. Instead, look for companies hiring lots of software engineers and go pitch yourself as a manager to that company. That’s because employers tend to fill lower-level jobs first over the Internet, so you’ll be there ahead of their need for a new team manager,” says Milgram. How do you pitch yourself to employers before they’ve listed a job opening? Research the company, make contact with people who work there, then send a networking letter. According to Milgram, your letter should say something like: “I’ve been in your shoes before, here’s what you’re going to experience as you hire new people, and I’d be happy to talk to you about it.” “The successful job search is not about you, but about the growth and the future of the company you want to work for,” adds Milgram. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you’ll get hired. 4) Contact Old Classmates You already know that networking can uncover the best job leads. It’s essential that you tell everyone you know about your job search. But don’t stop with those people. Talk to everyone you used to know — folks you haven’t been in touch with for years. And the easiest way is to contact people you went to high school or college with. Even if you haven’t talked to them in 20 years, you have something in common and they ought to be glad to hear from you (unless you stole their lunch money or did something equally inapt). Two Web sites to help make contact with old school friends are Classmates.com and Linkedin.com. Also, most college Web sites will help you get in touch with fellow alumni — try yours and see.
