Mower Maintenance for a Perfect Lawn

By David Chandler Growing and maintaining a lush green lawn takes care and the right equipment. The right lawn mover for your landscape and proper maintenance of your equipment will ensure a nice even lawn. A good lawn mower should cut the grass and not tear or rip it out. The first thing to consider when purchasing a lawn mover is your landscape. Is your lawn on a slope or flat ground? What type of mower can get the job done with the least amount of effort? Another factor is how easy the mower is to maintain for peak performance. If you have to cut grass on a slope, the best type of lawn mower is one with high wheels. This will make it easier to push up a hill, or to move back down the hill with. The second type of lawn mower is a cordless or electric mulching lawn mower. The mulching mower is less messy and mulches your lawn. The third type of lawn mower is a reel lawn mower. Reel lawnmowers are environmental friendly, not contributing to pollution and are easy to use. After deciding on the type of lawn mower to purchase, review the maintenance schedule. A good maintenance program will allow your mower to last for years to come and give your grass a better cut. Every spring, the different parts of the lawnmower should be cleaned or repaired. Spark plugs should be cleaned or replaced for good firing and nuts and bolts should be checked and tightened where necessary. The underside decking should be cleaned throughout the season to remove build up of grass and dirt. Cleaning the grass and dirt will also help in preventing the spread of diseases in grass. In order to clean the deck of the lawnmower, you should first empty the gas tank and make sure that the spark plug is not connected. You can then stand the mower up on its side and spray the mower with water. You can then scrub off the rest of the dirt and grass that is stuck on the mower. Make sure to dry the mower after you have finished rinsing it off, to make sure that none of the parts rust. Your maintenance should also include checking the oil and air filters. The air filters should be cleaned or replaced on a regular basis. Before removing the filter to replace, make sure that you know whether it is paper or foam. The oil in your lawn mower lubricates the engine. Be sure you read the operating instructions on the type and amount of oil your mower uses. Another important part of maintenance is sharpening the blades every one or two months, depending on use. Sharp blades ensure a clean cut rather than ripping out the grass. This can be easily done by removing the blade from the mower and sharpening it with a file. When mowing season is over, there are certain steps to properly store your lawn mower for the winter. It is advisable to remove the oil and gas, and clean the exterior. With consistent and proper care of your lawnmower, you will be able to keep your lawn looking great through the seasons and years, and your mower will last for years too. Lose Weight by Eating Breakfast and Drinking Milk

By Junji Takano Did you know that dieting and weight loss are two of the most common resolutions or goals by many people but usually results to failure? Dont give up yet. Stay committed and read through. If you really want to lose weight, forget the fad diets and eat breakfast and drink milk. Starting each day with milk and cereal may be the success for achieving a healthy weight. Many people don’t realize to eat breakfast but to skip entire morning tastes, either because youre in rush or lazy, or just want to reduce weight. Considerable number of people finish with a soft drink or a cup of coffee as their morning meal. Chances are this is going to have an opposite effect on you because skipping meals almost always leads to overeating at lunchtime. This is especially true with breakfast, because you’ve just been asleep for 7 or 8 hours and your body needs to recover from this brief period of starvation. Studies show that people who regularly eat breakfast, particularly cereal with low fat or fat-free milk, tend to be leaner compared to those who skip the morning meal or eat other options. Also, breakfast eaters are more likely to have long-term success in maintaining a reasonable weight. There is a finding that a cereal and milk breakfast is a habit common to successful weight loss maintainers. Combine that with studies drinking 24 ounces of milk a day with healthy weight loss, and you’ve got a strategy that may lead to lost pounds. Multiple studies have shown that people who drink milk and get adequate amounts of calcium in their diets tend to weigh less than their peers who don’t drink milk. A diet deficient in calcium has a higher risk for being overweight. Weight Control by Eating Eggs Eating eggs for breakfast can reduce hunger and caloric intake by more than 400 calories, both at lunchtime and over the next 24 hours. As a result, eggs are useful in helping overweight people reduce their energy intakes, a prerequisite of losing weight. This is great news if youre trying to lose weight as it means you may find it easier to cut calories without feeling hungry. In fact, you could expect to lose up to 2lb. a month, simply by eating eggs for breakfast! Eggs are packed with various nutrients but contain just 85 calories each. Theres also no limit to the number of eggs you can eat in a week contrary to popular belief. Other studies found that protein-based breakfasts improved weight loss better than carbohydrate-focused breakfasts. The better effects are increased when its combined with exercise. Should I avoid eating certain foods for the sake of weight loss? Forget about avoiding eating a certain food that you like to eat - that’s a dieters mentality and it doesn’t help you lose weight. It just makes you obsessed about food and eating. Instead, if you are really hungry, then eat, and stop as soon as youre satisfied. Just dont eat until youre totally full! So, if you’re hungry during breakfast, then eat. If you’re not hungry during lunch or dinner, then have a smaller meal. Keep in mind that you should not eat too many sweet foods. No matter what time you eat sweets, if it’s more energy than your body can use, it will be stored, meaning excess kilos. Fad diets wont work and only provide short-term results. Instead, always enjoy a wide variety of healthy foods and be physically active. Fad dieting is a hindrance that you don’t need in your life. Things to Remember: * Eating breakfast increases your metabolism and burns more kilojoules during the day, which can help you lose weight. * Protein-based breakfasts improved weight loss better than carbohydrate-focused breakfasts. * Eggs are great protein-rich breakfast, complete with zinc, iron and vitamins like A, B, D, E and B12. Long ago, people thought that eating many eggs contributed to health risks. This is not true and its already proven that they dont contribute to high cholesterol or heart disease. * Dont be afraid to eat a reasonable portion of your favorite dessert or snack food every now and then. * Try to eat steamed vegetables and drink soup in the morning. Did you know that this is common in Japan? It may take some time getting used to, but the benefits are: reduced fat and added nutrients from the vegetables. Graduate School Bargains - Do They Exist

By Amber C. Smith Graduate school really has no bargains, at least not the type you’d normally think about. No one is going to give you a coupon for school or send you a discount in the mail, but there are definitely ways to save money while you’re in graduate school. Scholarships and Grants First of all, always look for scholarships and grants that may be available either through your school or through a professional organization related to your future career. Many of these are overlooked by other students, so you may have a pretty good chance at getting this money. Special Loans Sometimes you can find special loans that are available for people entering your profession. These may have lower interest rates, different types of payments plans, or other perks. Search around for these, but only sign up if the company is reputable and the terms are guaranteed not to change. Used Books Here’s a more practical way to save some money in graduate school. Only buy used books, and never buy books before a class begins. Many returning students think that a class will actually require all the books, but most of the time this isn’t true. Where possible, wait the first few days of class to see if you will actually be using the book. If you are, then try to find it used on Half.com or another discount site. The great part about used books is that you’ll probably find lots of great notes in the margins, just waiting to help you. Student Discounts The final way to get a bargain in graduate school is to take advantage of the student discounts. The best discounts are those on computers and software. You will discover that these discounts can actually save you hundreds, even thousands, on important supplies. Local businesses including restaurants and hairdressers may also offer discounts to students at your university, so always ask. Not the Norm Saving money and finding discounts in graduate school isn’t like going grocery shopping with coupons, but you can find some really amazing deals. Just be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for the next time that you can save money as a student. Take a look at more industry related articles by Amber Smith at CareersandEducation.com . Why Does Healing Seldom Work?

By Ken Unger In the early years of my counseling I once gave up to eight hours a week in free counseling to a woman whose problems never got better. After about two months of this I called it quits. I now know what I didn’t know then. Free counseling is worth what you pay for it! And counseling that doesn’t lead to healing seldom does much good. Why? Years ago, a study unearthed a shocking discovery. Those who went to counseling for a problem took longer to recover than those who didn’t! There are many reasons for this, but the most important factor to remember is that we forget 90% of what’s ever happened to us. That means that at best, counseling only treats 10% of our problem. So what’s the solution? The 90% that we don’t consciously remember is indelibly recorded in our brain. Scientists have shown that if you touch the exact same spot on the brain with an electrode, the memory and all the feelings associated with it return. Do you see what I see in that statistic? If we can access the feelings that are stored in any traumatic event, it’s much easier to heal the real root causes of our problems and not just endlessly treat the underlying symptoms. People ask how we get such remarkable results at our Quantum LEAP Healing Retreat. It’s simple. We designed it to go straight to the root problems and uncover them, using feelings instead of memories as our guide. We use simple, gentle, but very powerful methods to reconnect with the hurts that underlie our problems. It doesn’t matter if the problem relates to marriage, work, bad habits, depression or anything else. Once those core hurts are uncovered — the very things the led to our problems — dealing with them is simple. We ask God Himself, the very God who promised to heal ALL our dis-eases, to heal the pain that was previously unresolved. And He’s glad to do it. Once the underlying core pain is healed, the problems usually evaporate. At worst, they become much more manageable. Ken Unger operates Sunrise Retreats, a ministry that has led powerful Spiritual Growth and Healing Retreats all over the US and Caribbean for over 25 years. He is also a published author and spiritual therapist in Los Angeles. His website, http://www.SunriseRetreats.com, offers a free newsletter to assist you in your own spiritual growth and healing. Four Misunderstandings Concerning the Spiritual Works of God

By David Becker One of the biggest confusions that a new believer has in their new walk with Jesus Christ, is the difficulty in understanding “works” for God. Faith and works seem interchangeable in their mind, and usually results in one of four misunderstandings that can slow down their growth toward Him if not understood. 1. Confusing faith with works - You are saved by what you “believe”. This belief is called faith. You will be rewarded for what you “do” for God. This is called “works”. Faith = What you believe. Works = What you do. You must have faith to be saved. Once you have been saved, your desire for works grows deeper and deeper. God knows this desire, (a form of love from a true believer), and will use that believer for His works when He chooses. 2. Thinking worship of God is works - Prayer, praise, and singing are wonderful ways we communicate with God, and God refreshes our soul and guides us to do His Will. Worship is great. Worship is for God. When we worship, we are giving to God. The LORD GOD is such a loving Father, that when we give to Him, we receive His love back with full intensity. We bask in that warmth, and desire it continuously. HOWEVER…worship is not works. Works for the LORD GOD is allowing him to use your mind, body and soul for His Will, and accomplishing what His Needs are in the manner He Chooses. 3. Thinking their works must match the spiritual works of everybody else - True workers of the LORD GOD accomplish tasks not duplicated by anybody else. Let me try to explain. Our LORD GOD is a great and awesome God. If He chooses a person to do His Works, He does not randomly pick them and put them into a situation over their heads. Quite the contrary, when the LORD GOD has chosen a person to do His Works, He gives them the knowledge, understanding and desire necessary to accomplish His Will. This is done in very many ways, but usually in a very controlled and methodical way. Sometimes situations require quick responses in God’s world, but most often, a person that does God’s Work has been trained to do that very thing that He Wills. I can say with certainty, that I have never witnessed a person doing the Works of God that has copied the activities or actions of others. It’s an individual choice that God makes, and it’s an individual effort that He uses to groom His Chosen workers. 4. Not having a foundation built before they try to do the works of God - The LORD GOD gave us His Word so we would know. If we do not have knowledge, He is not going to use us as His workers. His best workers are those who have the most knowledge of Him. There is only one way to get knowledge of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and that is through the study of His Word at His leading. It is impossible to have any deep understanding of His Word, unless the foundation of Jesus Christ is laid. Once this foundation is laid, deep teaching can began to take place, and a Christian can gain a new and deeper understanding of the things of God, and be prepared for the Works the LORD GOD Wills to be accomplished. It is usually apparent to mature Christians when God has a new and challenging work to be completed by them. It is at this point of realization, that it becomes important to separate the things of natural life with the things of God in the spiritual life. This conflict between the spiritual life and natural life exists continuously, but stops the works of God cold if we are unable to separate the two. If our soul, our body and mind is given to the LORD GOD, and we walk with Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is within us, then the mundane tasks of everyday life seem to be useless, as well they should. The Bible uses a word called “vanity” which means nothingness. Dishes, laundry, yard work, cleaning…all of the everyday and mundane tasks of social approval in the natural life are usually “vanity”. Often Christians will feel the tug of their focus toward God, and the expectations of the world pulling at them from the opposite direction. The rule of thumb is this…if God is moving you to do a Work for Him, forget everything and do it. What an honor to be chosen by Him to do His Will and complete a spiritual work that will glorify Him in Heaven! 2006 David “Bucker” Becker - All Rights Reserved Worldwide. Organic Gardening Beauty

By Thomas Straub Organic gardening and insect chewed up fruits, vegetables and flowers do not have to go together. It is easy to discover how to protect your garden from harmful insects, maintain fertile soil and healthy plants, without resorting to chemical insecticides and fertilizers by learning about a few, simple techniques. The gardening resource guide “Gardening Made Easy” (available at our website) discusses many organic gardening techniques to protect your organic garden. Here are just some of the major techniques that it discusses. Compost and Organic Fertilizers To feed you plants and get your soil nourished you can use simple, natural products called organic fertilizers. You can make your own compost pile in your back yard by recycling your very own kitchen scraps, grass clippings, tree leaves, and garden cuttings. Or, you may want to purchase compost from a local garden center. Plants can be grown directly the your compost or you can use it for fertilizing. Even liquid fertilizer can be created from you compost. It is an easy as taking out the garbage. A small space in the corner of a garden is all that you need, to gather your extra garden cutting, tree leaves and grass clippings. Pest Control and Organic Insecticides Bugs as a whole, have gotten a bad reputation. The truth is not all bugs are bad. For example, ladybugs, butterflies and bees are known to many people as beneficial insects. Moreover, wasps, flies and beetles can shield your plants from destructive insects. When you apply chemical insecticides, or even organic insecticides, you can kill destructive and helpful insects alike. These helpful bugs can be purchased at many nearby garden centers or online to place into your garden. In the battle against destructive insects, plants can also be a great help. Mixing in certain plants with the other plants in your garden, or using them as a boundary can ward off thrips, tomato hornworm and white flies. Even Peppermint will repel ants and encourage them to keep looking for another place to set up house. ——— Tom Straub is a successful author, and webmaster of the Best Gardening Tips web site, where you can read more on Organic Gardening and more than a dozen other gardening topics. Rod-Bending Carp Bait Ingredients - From your Larder

By Tim F. Richardson Do you always use a flavour in your homemade carp, catfish, bass or bass bait? There are plenty of fantastic alternatives to chose from to achieve that essential attraction in your boilies, dough baits, packbaits or bait dips! To begin with, there are the simple and familiar sweeteners. These include the old favourites like honey, natural maple syrup, fruit sugars, brown sugar, molasses, black treacle and golden syrup. Others are white sugar, milk shake powders, flavoured body building and weight gain powders. On the subject of body building, what about those liquid amino acids protein supplements and those brilliant vitamin and mineral dietary supplements? These often have an alcohol base, making them even more potent! Isotonic energy drinks are interesting alternative flavours. Then there are the alcohols like vodka. Try Tia Maria or Malibu or whiskey or brandy? What are favourite tipples or sweet alcoholic drinks? How about using yeast extract, Marmite or Vegemite. Malt and many associated side products and derivatives are very sweet and rich in goodies for the carp. Even adding milk powders, cream or evaporated milk, adds flavour, sweet milk sugars and added nutrition, that carp love. Have you tried probiotic flavoured yogurts or melted ice cream as a creamy alternative? Have you tried using liquidized tinned sweetcorn flavour? A very sweet alternative is using powdered liquorice root, or turning this into a liquid flavour. Many plants and trees have historically played a massive role in homemade carp baits; supplying so many exceptionally proven attractors and flavours and other associated very helpful feeding triggers and digestion aids. Even the basic cured vanilla pod to spray dried strawberries in natural form work great in bait. Herbs are great in baits for many reasons. From the famous peppermint to fenugreek and garlic. Many herbs have exceptionally powerful effects on the body and brain, even inducing additive behaviour. Hempseed and the leaves of hemp come to mind. Does tobacco ring a bell too? In this category you could add red and hot peppers, cocoa, coffee, kola, and a whole list of others with great benefits in your bait. Ground-up nuts and seeds produce their own carp attractive flavours and oils and are an effective alternative where so many synthetic flavours appear to have had their day. Drugs may not be ethical, and there are certain benefits to using crushed aspirin in a flavour mix. (Might even help if your carp happens to have a headache!) Using crushed bicarbonate of soda tablets might be interesting too… Crushed peppermint oil tablets mixed with crushed garlic tablets, brewers yeast tablets and cod liver oil, make another interesting combination. For savoury flavours, how about condiments like Tomato sauce, brown source, or stir-fry flavourings like fish sources, black bean source, squid source, anchovy source crab source, etc? Many of these things are based on fermented fish; and are very effective. I remember using a fish source as a bait dip and could not stop hooking predatory fish like pike and catfish! Common supermarket fish pastes are also great. What about trying salmon and crab and anchovy together! Your local Japanese, or Thai, or Chinese grocery shop could well provide some especially magical ingredients and extracts and are very well worth experimenting with… Getting a feel for ingredients, by looking at labels much more for ideas will really inspire you once you know the kind of ingredients that really pull the fish! Mixing many of the above ideas together in your bait can well and truly get the fish feeding; without ever visiting the tackle shop for a flavour! But what will happen if your add a flavour to these too? Perhaps your fishing results might surprise you. Why not go beyond tipping Red Bull or Coke into your bait and mix it up a bit! The author has many more fishing and bait edges up his sleeve. Every single one can have a huge impact on catches.(Warning: This article is protected by copyright, but reprints with a link are OK.) Ohio Private Investigators

By Peter Emerson In Ohio, hiring an investigator for private investigation is an important transaction and needs to be undertaken with a lot of care. The laws, customs and practices in each jurisdiction vary. An investigator can be hired to conduct private investigations, check workers’ compensation claims, civil and criminal investigations, carry out background investigations, survey insurance fraud, investigate wrongful death, personal injury, look into prenuptial agreements, environmental litigation, interference of child custody / parental kidnapping, nursing home abuse, evidence collection and documentation, child drug abuse suspicion, for professional photography, video recording and documentation, runaway or missing children, estate related disputes, child stealing / abductions, surveillance, internal theft, sexual discrimination / racial discrimination, collective-bargaining violations / unfair labor violations / documentation, workplace violence issues, industrial accidents/work related injuries / on scene investigations, temporary protection order violations/documentation, tracking and recording criminal activities and physical tailing/activities documentation. The requirement for independent investigations, documentation and reporting on details related to court cases or suspected fraudulent insurance requests often leads attorneys and insurance companies to hire a private investigator. Private investigators usually focus on areas such as intellectual property theft, loss prevention and financial investigation. Private investigators are generally subject to laws in the jurisdiction in which they are working. These laws can differ between jurisdictions. All investigators should have either former or current law enforcement background or have a college degree along with extensive training in all aspects of investigative techniques. Investigators provide a direct link between the client and the case investigation. A client does not have to worry about confusing case changeovers and multiple investigators handling their case. Investigative needs can be corporate or domestic, large or small, whatever the need, private investigators can assist in a professional and confidential manner. Finding a private investigator in Ohio is very easy. One can easily locate a significant amount of listings for private investigators in Ohio via the Internet. Lawnmowers - Which One Suits your Garden Needs?

By John Gibb A lawnmower is one of those things that everyone has, and yet its still really difficult to choose the right one. There are hundreds thousands even of different lawnmowers out there to choose from, and its difficult to know which to get unless you have some basic grounding in what youre looking for. The first decision you have to make is whether you want a petrol mower, an electric mower or a mower that is powered only by you pushing it. While push mowers are doubtless the cheapest and most environmentally friendly (not to mention the quietest!), it can be strenuous to push them well enough to cut all the grass, and will be completely impractical for you if you have a large garden that needs to be cut. Petrol lawnmowers are more powerful, but at the same time more troublesome. They need a fuel supply, which can be expensive as well as dangerous to store, and they also often use difficult pull-string starting mechanisms. Electric lawnmowers, on the other hand, are just as powerful as petrol ones, but dont need the fuel and can be started easily. The main downside of electric mowers is that they need a power cord to be plugged into them, and this can be a safety hazard if you accidentally cut through it with the mowers blades. There are rechargeable cordless mowers, but they tend to be more expensive and will not run for a very long time. If your garden is big enough, you could even try a ride-on mower. These are exactly what they sound like, big lawn mowers that you ride on. They are generally petrol-powered, and expensive. However, theres no denying that they get the grass cut very quickly, and theyre fun to ride, too. Overall, what you choose will depend on the size of your garden, how much you want to spend and which features are important to you. For most people, an electric lawnmower will probably have the best balance of features. Is The Separation Of Church And State Patriotic?

By Steven Coffman I fail to understand why this great country of ours is constantly attacked by civil liberties groups, in an attempt to abolish all forms of God from all government institutions, or anything that is government subsidized, like our public schools. The oath of office to be sworn in with, at most government posts, whether is be legislative or judicial ends in So help me God, including the office of the President of the United States. Shall we remove this ending from the oath and just take a chance that they will do the best that they can, because they are such a nice person? When we are in a court of law, should we not ask a witness who is about to give testimony an oath to give, The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and then not add So help me God, which is meant to hold them accountable to a higher authority? While we are at it, shall we burn all the U.S. currency and re-mint every coin so that we can remove the phrase In God We Trust? Our country has always been deeply rooted with God interwoven throughout it as a way of life; personally, publicly, fraternally and throughout our government. This relationship with God is a character trait as patriotic as any other identifying mark that you can associate our United States of America with as a symbol of who we are. Next they will want to change and take out One nation under God in the pledge of allegiance? George Washington once said, It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible. Do not ever let anyone claim to be a true American patriot it they ever attempt to separate Religion from politics. Most historians regard George Washington as one of our greatest leaders. Could have George Washington felt this way, and knew something that we now regard as useless and intrusive in our land of the free, and home of the brave? What are we coming to in this great land when some go out of their way to wipe out any form of God in our government that has been a strong way of life for America? I can only hope that our families fight this challenge to abolish God from our government at all levels and do not let this happen!
